Behind the Scenes of a TechKnowCo In-Person Visit

When you schedule an in-person appointment with TechKnowCo, you might think the process is pretty simple: I show up, fix the problem, and head on my way.
But a little more is happening behind the scenes.
At TechKnowCo, I want to arrive at your appointment prepared, not spend half of your visit searching the internet trying to figure out what went wrong. That means your tech support often starts before I even walk through your door.
Here’s what happens behind the scenes of a typical TechKnowCo in-person visit.
Step 1: Tell Me What’s Going On
It all starts when you reach out to TechKnowCo for help.
When requesting an appointment, you’ll have an opportunity to tell me what kind of problem you’re experiencing. Maybe your computer has suddenly become painfully slow. Maybe your printer has decided it no longer believes in printing. Perhaps you’re locked out of an account, struggling with a new device, or dealing with something you can’t quite explain.
And that’s okay!
You don’t need to know the technical name for the problem. In fact, figuring that part out is my job.
I may ask a few questions about what’s happening, what device you’re using, when the problem started, and whether you've noticed any error messages or unusual behavior.
The goal is to gather enough information to start investigating the issue before your appointment.
Step 2: I Do My Homework
This is the part you don't usually see.
Once I have an idea of what you're experiencing, I start researching.
Even with years of technology experience, I don't believe good tech support means pretending to have every answer memorized. Technology changes constantly. Devices receive updates, software changes, companies introduce new features, and sometimes a perfectly good solution from a few years ago isn't the best solution today.
So, before your appointment, I do my homework.
I may research your particular device, software, error message, account issue, or problem. I can review possible causes, look for known issues, check current instructions, and prepare a few potential solutions.
Sometimes I even find out that the problem isn't what it initially appeared to be.
Doing this research beforehand means that when appointment day arrives, I'm coming in with a plan.
It also means we're spending more of your appointment actually working on the problem instead of watching me search Google for an answer. 😉
Step 3: It's Appointment Time
Now it's time to put that preparation to work.
Sometimes the solution is exactly what I expected.
Sometimes technology decides to throw us a curveball.
Either way, we'll work through the problem together.
And when possible, I don't just want to fix the issue and disappear. I want you to understand what happened.
If there's something you can do differently in the future, I'll explain it. If there's something you should watch for, I'll point it out. And if the problem could happen again, we'll talk about what you should do next time.
There are no silly questions and no expectation that you should already know how everything works.
You're Getting More Than the Appointment
One of the things I want TechKnowCo clients to understand is that you're not simply paying for the time I spend sitting in front of your computer.
You're also getting the preparation that happens before I arrive.
You're getting research, troubleshooting experience, patience, and someone willing to translate the technical stuff into regular human language.
Technology is complicated enough.
Getting help with it shouldn't be.
Need Help With Your Technology?
If there's a computer, phone, tablet, printer, account, or other piece of technology that's been giving you trouble, you don't have to keep fighting with it by yourself.
Tell TechKnowCo what's going on, and we'll take it from there.
Request an in-person TechKnowCo appointment today and let's figure it out together.
